action

On the way back from a friend's birthday party, Johanna Schröder is the victim of rape . Someone must have given her knockout drops by the end of the party to knock her out. Dazed, she wakes up in the forest and goes to her apartment, distraught, where she first washes the dirt off her body. Only then does she go to the police. Thus, apart from the residues of the knockout drops, there are no usable traces, which makes the investigation more difficult. Johanna is certain, however, that it was one of her close friends, and her disappointment is correspondingly great. From then on she was plagued by panic attacks and nightmares and began to distrust everyone, especially since the investigating commissioner had doubts about the course of the rape and alleged that Johanna had provoked the crime. When all police investigations come to nothing, Johanna is immeasurably disappointed and doesn't know how to go on living happily if she can't even trust her friends anymore. She hires a private detective to find the perpetrator on her own. In addition, she sits down with her friend, Leonie Grothe, and analyzes all suspects and their alibis. It turns out that Leonie's friend, Björn Reichsmann, doesn't have a valid alibi either. Leonie is outraged at how Johanna can only think of mistaking her Björn for the perpetrator. But the private detective also finds evidence of Björn, as he was definitely near the crime scene at the time of the crime.

Johanna brings her evidence against Björn Reichsmann to the police, whereupon the suspect is immediately arrested. Given these circumstances, Leonie ends her friendship with Johanna. Her other friends also think more of Leonie and Björn, so that Johanna feels abandoned by everyone. Since the evidence against Björn is insufficient, he is released from custody and the proceedings against him are later dropped. Johanna is devastated. She gets a gun and threatens Björn, but even now he doesn't admit anything. On the verge of collapse, she seeks protection from her mother, from whom she has hitherto concealed the rape out of shame. This encourages her to finally seek psychological help. As a result, she succeeds to a limited extent in coming to terms with what happened. With a letter of apology, she reconciles with Leonie and Björn and makes serious friends with Yanis. When she actually gave up trying to find the culprit, she accidentally discovers photos in the camera of Björn's brother Philipp, which he took of Johanna on the night of the crime.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “The drama of 'It was one of us' is sparked by the heroine's conflict of having to give priority to either one's own salvation or the social community. Both are not possible. But she needs both in order to be happy in the long run. ”“ Psychologically and dramatically, the story told from the perspective of the main character is on safe footing. Maria Simon also gives her the physical credibility that such a story needs. Morally, (perceptually) psychologically and aesthetically coherent psychodrama. "

Christian Buß writes at Spiegel Online : "Director Kai Wessel [...] stages the rape as a total shock to the victim's world: the brutal act of violence, it doesn't get any worse, is followed by subtle ostracism."

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best possible rating (thumbs up) and found: "Oppressive, well played."

Ulrich Feld from the Frankfurter Neue Presse commented: “In the end, the story suddenly pulls the real perpetrator out of his hat: Why did he even take photos of Johanna during the rape? And the fact that he then just leaves the camera and the recordings lying around at his desk and even his son plays around with it is also quite unbelievable. The scene itself, however, is played and staged excellently. In general, the actors, especially Maria Simon, are the greatest strength of this film. Kai Wessel really gets everything out of the story, which is extremely oppressive despite its dramaturgical weaknesses, the wintry scenes and of course Maria Simon. The result is a film that you cannot easily forget. "
