Esch is a village in the town of Elsdorf in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Esch borders Angelsdorf in the east, Escherbrück in the south and Tollhausen in the north-west . The next town in the north is Niederembt .

history

Esch belonged to the office of Kaster in the Duchy of Jülich since the Middle Ages . In 1794 the place was occupied by French revolutionary troops. The Mairie Esch was created in the canton of Bergheim in the Arrondissement of Cologne in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 the place came to the Kingdom of Prussia . It was the mayor Esch district Bergheim (Erft) in Region of Cologne . In 1927 the mayor's office in Esch was renamed to Amt Esch . In 1937 the municipality of Heppendorf came to the Esch office, which was renamed the Elsdorf office in 1938. Since January 1, 1975, Esch has been part of the municipality of Elsdorf, which has had city rights since 2011.
