Grouven is a district of the town of Elsdorf in the Rhineland . Elsdorf is a town in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia .

location

Grouven is located east of Elsdorf. The district roads 33 and 41 run through the village. The federal road 477 runs past the eastern edge of the village. To the north of the village is the Bergheim / Elsdorf junction of federal motorway 61 . The Hambachbahn runs past the outskirts.

In the earliest times, a Roman road led through the town to Cologne . The street is now a listed building .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 922. The village used to be called "Gruondduvon" and "Grouenouu".

The castle Grouven was until 1700 owned a to be named after Grouven ministerial family .

The St. Brigida Chapel , a branch church of Berrendorf, used to belong to an inn, a pilgrim rest stop. It was later enlarged.

There used to be a primary school in Grouven , but it was closed. The village also has a voluntary fire brigade and, since 1850, the St. Sebastianus Rifle Society.
