history
Around 1870, the standard work Statistisk-topografisk Beskrivelse af Kongeriget Danmark (“Statistical-topographical description of the Kingdom of Denmark”) , founded by Jens Peter Trap , describes the city as follows: “ Eskildstrup med Kirke og Skole, Jernbanestation ” (“Eskildstrup [sic! ] with church and school, railway station ”).
At the turn of the 20th century the entry reads: " Eskildstrup med Kirke, Skole, teknisk Skole (opr. 1885), Forsamlingshus (opr. 1889), Jærnbanestation, Telegraf- og Telefonstation, Fællesmejeri, Kro og Lægebolig " ("Eskildstrup [ sic!] with church, school, technical school (built in 1885), meeting house (built in 1889), railway station, telegraph and telephone station, dairy, restaurant and doctor's house ”).
