Esmée Denters (born September 28, 1988 in Westervoort , Netherlands ) is a Dutch singer and songwriter who was discovered and known through the video portal YouTube .

Musical career

From an early age, Esmée Denters was musically influenced by her father, who regularly played music with her and her sister. She developed a keen interest in singing , so that she practiced this activity almost permanently over the next few years. Her best friend Mady was very supportive. In 2006, Denters shot short singing videos with her sister's webcam , mostly covers of current pieces from the soul , rhythm and blues and hip-hop sectors, and published them on the video portal YouTube . These were hugely popular and Denters won many fans around the world, especially in their home country, the Netherlands . Numerous television appearances in the USA followed .

She also received offers from record companies, which she initially considered to be feint . In the end, she followed them up and flew to the USA in 2007 to meet with producers. There a report about her appeared in Billboard Magazine . First photo shoots followed and at the Grammy Awards after party she met numerous music greats such as P. Diddy , Kelly Rowland and Justin Timberlake , who later produced a song for Denters.

She then traveled to Sweden to work on other pieces with professional musicians and producers. When she returned to the Netherlands after another trip to the USA, she announced on the Jensen talk show that she was under contract with Justin Timberlake's new record company, Tennman Records . A new vocal video appeared on YouTube, in which Timberlake made a guest appearance at the end and thus exceeded all previous visitor numbers.

In June 2007 Denters went on tour through Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands as a support act for Justin Timberlake. Meanwhile, more vocal videos with prominent guest appearances have appeared, including a duet with Natasha Bedingfield . Then she began working on her first album, and she showed more videos on YouTube in the recording studio. On November 6, 2007, Denters appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show , where she announced that her song Crazy Place would be available for download from her official website. The text draws attention to poverty in third world countries , so all proceeds went to a human rights organization.

Another YouTube video followed, in which she sang the duet Stop and Stare with the singer of the band One Republic . Esmée Denters had its international breakthrough in 2009 with Outta Here .

On September 15, 2010, she was together with Stanfour in the RTL soap opera Gute Zeiten, haben Zeiten to see. In 2010 she was awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA).

In March 2013 Esmée announced on Facebook that she had lost her contract with Tennman Records or Interscope Records. As a result, their announced second album Screaming out Loud was never released. But she wants to continue with her music and is working alone on her album and new material. She is now regularly posting videos on YouTube again.

She also gained greater prominence by participating in the UK version of the talent show The Voice .
