The Estadio Metropolitano de Fútbol de Lara is a football stadium in the Venezuelan city of Cabudare , around 20 kilometers from Barquisimeto , in the state of Lara . It is the home ground of the Barquisimeto-based football clubs Deportivo Lara and Unión Lara . It was one of nine venues for the 2007 Copa America and the venue for the 2016 South American Women's U-17 Football Championship .

The facility has been in use since 2007 and currently has a capacity of 40,312 seats. The completion of the venue was planned for 2007. Due to delays, the football stadium was not officially opened until 2009. During the Copa América 2007 only the main and opposite stands were roofed over and the upper tier was missing in the back-door stands. The Estadio Metropolitano de Fútbol de Lara is the only larger stadium in Venezuela so far without an athletics facility . The 40,312 seats also include 270 VIP seats, 24 handicapped-accessible seats and 690 seats for journalists and 30 boxes . The plant was u. a. equipped with a sauna, warm-up area with artificial turf , anti-doping control room, gym and medical rooms. The floodlight system integrated into the roof is equipped with 240 spotlights with 2,000 watts each. A video display board has been installed on both sides under the roof of the back stand. There are three parking spaces around the stadium with a total of 4,000 parking spaces.
