Eugene Thomas

Ernst Eugen Thomas (born December 1, 1895 in Elberfeld , † April 30, 1968 in Bad Honnef ) was a German entrepreneur and politician . In 1945 he was appointed Lord Mayor of the city of Wuppertal .

Eugen Thomas was born on December 1, 1895 in Elberfeld, the son of a brass caster. He started his career as a commercial clerk, from 1928 he was an authorized signatory and sales director of the JP Bemberg company in Wuppertal.

Thomas was appointed Lord Mayor of Elberfeld on April 16, 1945 towards the end of the Second World War , as the local representatives of the US occupation forces had no knowledge of the unification of Elberfeld and Barmen in 1929 and 1931 . Only on May 4, 1945 did he rise to the position of Lord Mayor of Wuppertal, which he remained until November 9 of the same year.

In 1960 Thomas retired, three years later he moved to Unkel and died on April 30, 1968 in Bad Honnef.
