The Euro-Industriepark is a spacious industrial park in the Munich district of Freimann and Milbertshofen , which is mainly characterized by pick-up wholesale markets and large retail chains. It is one of the largest commercial units in the state capital.

location

The Euro-Industriepark is located north of the Eisenbahn- Nordring and Frankfurter Ring on both sides of Ingolstädter Straße between Zenith / Lilienthalallee and Knorrstraße , and south of Bayern-Kaserne / Heidemannstraße . The southern access road of the eastern part is the Schwarzhauptstrasse, another access road is the Maria-Probst-Strasse to Helene-Wessel-Bogen. The western part is developed and bounded by the Anton-Ditt-Bogen and the Hufelandstraße.

There were numerous sidings to the companies in the Euro-Industriepark from the railway north ring of Deutsche Bahn AG .

history

The businessman Anton Ditt bought land from the Deutsche Bundesbahn for his Euro-Boden Gesellschaft mbH in order to build an industrial park based on the American model. Development of the site began in 1963, and in 1968 the topping-out ceremony was celebrated together with the 40 companies that settled here and opened a little later. In 1970 the first private name Euro-Industriepark was used as the official place name for this area by the building department of the state capital of Munich.

Commercial structure

The Euro-Industriepark is divided mainly to the east of Ingolstädter Strasse by large-scale retail stores, the architecture and organization of which are based on the US models of the 1960s: Rectangular, simple buildings with flat roofs that are reminiscent of warehouses, generous entrance and checkout areas with corresponding parking areas in front of it. The industrial site is organized car-friendly according to the criteria valid in the 1960s. The public transport connection to the site is realized via bus lines 171 (from Kieferngarten (U6) ) and 141 (from Frankfurter Ring (U2) to Ingolstädter Straße, bus 143). In addition to pick-up wholesalers such as Metro Cash & Carry , which are not aimed at end consumers, there are also large retail chains that are specifically aimed at them and specialize in one sales segment. An example of this is the Media Markt , which opened its first store in 1979 in the Euro-Industriepark.

In addition, there are also smaller commercial units, which, however, are located more west of Ingolstädter Straße. Several car dealerships indicate the Euro-Industriepark as their location, although strictly speaking they are not located in its area. In this respect, the boundaries of the Euro Industrial Park are no longer firmly defined, at least in common parlance.

meaning

The Euro-Industriepark plays a decisive role in supplying the northern parts of the city west of the Isar. Apart from the Olympia shopping center and the Mira, there are hardly any large shopping centers. In addition, the concentrated collection of very large retail chains at one point in the entire city area is unique.
