EuroHockey Club Champions Cup (men, hall)
The EuroHockey Club Cup (men's hall) is a competition held by the European Hockey Federation (EHF) in which the men's indoor hockey champions of Europe are entitled to start. In contrast to European Cup competitions in other sports, the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup, introduced in 1990, is played in tournament form. The tournament, formerly known as the European Champions Cup, takes place every year in January or February.
So far, teams from four countries have won the cup. Germany is the most successful nation with 26 titles, followed by two Polish, one Swiss, one Spanish and one Swedish cup wins. Record winner Rot-Weiss Köln won the tournament nine times, from 1993 to 1996 four times in a row. The current title holder is the German club Der Club an der Alster , which defeated SV Arminen Wien 3-1 in the final on February 16, 2020 .
Competition mode
Eight teams, each champion of their country, play the title. The participating countries are those whose champions took the first six places in the previous year and the two countries whose clubs had reached the final in the second-rate EuroHockey Club Champions Trophy a year earlier. The two last-placed countries of the cup are relegated to the trophy. The same promotion and relegation rules apply to the third-class Challenge I and fourth-class Challenge II.
