Eva Dessecker

Eva Dessecker (* in Karlsruhe ) is a German costume designer who works mainly with the directors Luc Bondy and Alvis Hermanis .

life and work

After studying art history and archeology at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg i. B. Dessecker worked for the costume designer Moidele Bickel at the Schaubühne on Lehniner Platz in Berlin from 1983 to 1990 . During this time she worked a. a. with Peter Stein , Luc Bondy and Robert Wilson . She also assisted Jürgen Rose and Karl Lagerfeld . Since 1992 she has been working as a self-employed costume designer, u. a. at the Salzburg Festival , at the Graz Opera , the National Theater Mannheim , the Frankfurt Opera and the Schauspiel Frankfurt , the Hamburg State Opera and the Opéra Bastille in Paris.

A close collaboration linked or connects Dessecker with Klaus Michael Grüber (1941–2008), Luc Bondy (1948–2015) and Alvis Hermanis (* 1965). She also acted as a costume designer for Cesare Lievi's production of Beckett's Waiting for Godot at the Vienna Burgtheater . At the Ruhrtriennale 2013 she designed the costumes for Robert Wilson's production of Helmut Lachenmann 's only opera to date, Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern . In December 2013 she worked on a new production of Rosenkavalier at the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp together with the director Christoph Waltz , the set designer Annette Murschetz and the conductor Dmitri Jurowski . This production was subsequently shown at the Grand théâtre de la ville de Luxembourg and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London .
