The church in Brno

The Evangelical Church in Brünnau , Lower Franconia, is the parish church of the small community. It stands in the middle of the village on the county road KT 40. The church belongs to the Deanery of Castell .

history

The story of a church in the village does not begin until the 18th century. Before that, however, a small chapel must have existed, because the small church contains older pieces of equipment than those from the time it was built. The village of Brünnau fell to the Münsterschwarzach monastery in 1306 . The monastery ruled the village until the 19th century. However, it is not clear from the sources whether the monks had a church built.

The plans to build a church began at the beginning of the 18th century. Residents of Bimbach and Brünnau, the two villages have always been closely connected, collected for the construction at that time. The small church could then be built before 1705. In 1979 it was extensively renovated; in 1987 it was still a Bimbach branch . Today the pastor of Bimbach is also responsible for Brno. The Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments lists the church as an architectural monument. Archaeological finds in the ground are classified as soil monuments .

architecture

The geostete church is a simple hall structure , a simple choir was attached to the nave. The wooden roof turret erected between the choir and nave is characteristic . It ends with a dome with a point. The nave has a gable roof. High rectangular windows provide the building with light. Since the last renovation, the entrance is on the west side of the building.

Furnishing

With the construction of the church, most of the furnishings came into the church. The oldest element, however, is the pewter baptismal font, which was made in 1672 by the master Johann Georg Herbst. The baptismal font is marked with the year "1717". Around 1705 the pulpit with canopy and the baroque organ came into the church. The narrow wall opening to the pulpit, which was hung on the choir arch, is remarkable.

In the center of the choir is the altar, which was also installed in the church in 1705. It has two columns and shows the resurrection of Christ on its sheet . The excerpt is a round oil painting showing St. Michael . Acanthus tendrils serve as an ornament. The most valuable piece is Johann Michael Dilherr's Bible from the 17th century. It was bought by the Brno residents for 16 guilders in the 18th century.
