action
After the end of their marriage, Evelyn Hausherr no longer believes in love. Her friend Susanne, with whom she has found shelter, says, however, that Evelyn was made for marriage. To help her friend's happiness on the jumps, she pretended to be a prospect at a marriage institute and brought three videos from - in her opinion - suitable partners for Evelyn.
In the first video, the dentist Klaus presents himself together with his twelve-year-old daughter Peggy. Evelyn finds the two likable and soon meets with them to go sailing on the Elbe. The excursion starts off nicely, and to her delight, Evelyn even gets on well with the rather self-confident Peggy. But then by chance she overhears a conversation between Klaus and his daughter, from which it emerges that she is in the middle of a test for her suitability as a future wife and stepmother. When she hears that she should be pushed into the water next, she quickly takes flight.
Susanne can still persuade Evelyn to watch another video. The antique dealer Oskar, who introduces himself in it, actually seems to have been made for you. So that this meeting goes better than the last, Evelyn wants to pretend a completely accidental meeting. She visits Oskar's shop, whose address Susanne has found, and pretends to be an interested customer. At first her plan seems to be working: Oskar is enthusiastic about Evelyn and spontaneously invites her to dinner in an Italian restaurant. But there he recognizes Susanne, who is waiting for Evelyn, as a candidate for the marriage institute and also notices that the two women are secretly glancing at each other. When Evelyn then exaggerates excessively when ordering food, he senses an intrigue between the two and pretends to be a sickly failure in order to get rid of Evelyn as soon as possible.
The third and last video cassette introduces the investment advisor and hobby hunter Klaus-Günther Bröse. Despite her bad experience with the previous candidates, Evelyn decides to meet him. She is supposed to come to the entrance of Mr. Bröses hunting area at half past seven on Saturday morning and identify herself with the slogan “When the buck drives the doe”. Unfortunately, the “old school gentleman” turns out to be a clumsy clumsy teacher who ruthlessly lives out his enthusiasm for hunting. When a high seat collapses under the two of them due to a stray shot of Bröses, Evelyn has had enough and makes her way back to town on foot.
A taxi driver notices the desperate woman who is alone on the country road early in the morning. He takes her with him in his car and tries to comfort her on the way. Finally, he persuades her to go to Café Keese that evening , where he himself met his great love. Already in a somewhat more optimistic mood, she promises him to do so.
Shortly after Evelyn enters the café, she notices a likable-looking man who is obviously looking for eye contact with her. But when she wants to ask him to dance, another lady comes before her. Instead, Evelyn comes across an ambitious tournament dancer who is quite rough with her and plans to make her his new training partner. When he wants to take her home with him immediately after the dance, Evelyn escapes under a pretext to a neighboring bar. Shortly afterwards, the man who initially flirted with her takes a seat next to her. He followed her and turns out to be her ex-husband's divorce lawyer, who had already kept an eye on her in the courtroom. The two go to his home in love.
