Everclear is an American rock band formed in 1992 by singer Art Alexakis.

Band history

Everclear was formed in Portland in 1992 . Most of their career consisted of Art Alexakis (born April 12, 1962 , Los Angeles , USA; vocals, guitar), Craig Montoya (born September 14, 1970 ; bass, vocals) and Greg Eklund (born April 18, 1970 ; Drums). Eklund replaced his predecessor Scott Cuthbert in 1994.

In 1993 the band released their debut album, World of Noise , on a small independent label. A short time later, the band received a contract with the major label Capitol Records , which World of Noise reissued in 1994. The successor Sparkle and Fade , published in 1995, proved to be quite successful: In the American album charts, the work came up to 25th place.

The band's third album, So Much for the Afterglow , was released in 1997 and was also in the charts. In August 2003 the band split up because the musicians wanted to pursue solo projects.

In the fall of 2003, after a solo tour, Alexakis decided to continue with Everclear. In March 2004 the band appeared for the first time with a new line-up; In addition to Alexakis, it was composed of bassist Sam Hudson, guitarist Dave French, drummer Eric Bretl and later keyboardist Josh Crawley. But soon Bretl was replaced by the old Everclear drummer Brett Snyder. In this constellation, Everclear released the album "Welcome to the Drama Club" in 2006 under the label Eleven Seven Music . In 2008 the cover compilation The Vegas Years was published. In addition, Brett Snyder was replaced by former Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart. In 2009 all members except Alexakis left the band and were replaced by four new musicians.

Everclear in the movie

In the film Losers , Paul ( Jason Biggs ) notices that Dora ( Mena Suvari ) is a big fan of the band and gets concert tickets. So there is a short excerpt from an Everclear concert in the film. The group has also appeared on soundtracks from films such as Scream 2 , American Pie , William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet , Detroit Rock City, and Not Another Teenage Movie . In an episode of Ned's ULTIMATE School Madness, the band plays their song Rockstar .
