Everybody's Everything is a documentary in 2019 about the life of Gustav Elijah Ahr, who as Lil Peep is known. Directed by Sebastian Jones and Ramez Silyan, the film was produced by Benjamin Soley, Terrence Malick, Liza Womack and Sarah Stennett. He traces the life of Lil Peep from childhood in Long Beach , New York , through his meteoric rise in the underground scene and music industry, to his death on November 15, 2017 at the age of 21. The film takes its title from one of Lil Peep's Instagram posts that appeared the day before his death. “I just want to be everything for everyone,” he wrote. The documentary is described as a "humanistic portrait trying to understand an artist who tried to be everything to everyone".

The film had its world premiere on March 10, 2019 at the South by Southwest Festival and was released by Gunpowder & Sky on November 12, before its theatrical release on November 15, 2019, for a worldwide unique fan screening. A companion album of the same name was released on November 15, 2019 by Columbia Records in parallel with the film.

Encouragement

IndieWire named the film one of the ten best film and television projects at SXSW and Variety included it in the festival's top twelve. Rapper Drake called the film "awesome" in an interview with Rap Radar and Vice's Justin Staple called it "the defining document of the SoundCloud rap generation".

Ryan Oliver of The Playlist writes: “Having just witnessed Lil Peep's rapid meteoric rise in the periphery, Everybody's Everything is a loving tribute to fans and strangers alike. And for the latter, the director really creates a sense of humanity, awe and undeniably raw talent that makes it easy to understand why his music has connected so many people in such a short amount of time. "David Ehrlich of IndieWire called the film" a compelling one and hypnotic sanctification of the deceased musician ”. Rolling Stone's David Fear described it as “a film that is difficult to see and even more difficult to look away from. But it has to be seen ”. Many reviewers have also noted the unique use of letters his grandfather John Womack wrote to Peep throughout the film. Variety's Andrew Barker described it as “heartbreakingly poetic” and said of the ending: “The film snaps back into breathtaking focus during its epilogue , in which Peep's grandfather Womack, who was previously only heard in the voiceover, is allowed to speak extensively . Unimpressed by all of the facial tattoos and calculated insolence that accompanied his grandson's artistic personality, Womack evidently never ceased to see Peep as his little boy, and his quiet brooding over mortality and masculinity ends up with shocking force.
