Federation of Syriac Germany
Federation of Syriac Germany ( Aramaic ܚܘܝܕܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ ܕܐܠܡܢܝܐ Huyodo Suryoyo d'Almanya ) is an umbrella organization of living in Germany Syriacs , especially the Christian minority of Tur Abdin .
Origin of name
Suryoye is the Syrian-Aramaic-speaking name for several Christian ethnic groups in the Middle East, in particular the Aramaeans , Assyrians , Chaldeans , Maronites and Melkites . The Syriacs are one of the oldest Christian peoples in the world and come from the former Mesopotamia . Persecuted and driven out for centuries, the stateless people live scattered on all continents.
history
The federation was founded on October 3, 2007 in Heilbronn and entered in the register of associations at the Heilbronn District Court. Legally, it is a non-governmental organization (NGO). When it was founded in 2007, the Aramaic self-designation was deliberately chosen to settle disputes about the use of the terms Aramaic , Assyrian and Chaldean and to demonstrate openness to all groups. The HSA acts as the umbrella organization for 17 member clubs so far. Elections for the board of directors take place every two years. Delegates from the member associations are elected to the board.
The umbrella organization is committed to social, cultural and political issues and at the same time promotes the preservation of culture and the integration of the living Syrians ( Assyrians , Arameans and Chaldeans ) in Germany. The goals of the HSA are the exchange of Syriacs within Germany and the promotion of their culture and the representation of national interests of the minority. The federation's work also focuses on public relations in order to preserve the history and roots of the homeless Syriacs and to draw attention to the situation of the Christians who remain in the Middle East .
The Federation of Syriac Germany (HSA) is one of the five sponsors of the Federation of Syriac Organizations in Germany; the others are: the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch in Germany, the Central Association of Assyrian Associations in Germany (ZAVD), the European Syriac Union (ESU) and the umbrella organization of development associations Tur Abdin (DETA).
