The season 1958 was the first season of the FIBA Europe discharged European Cup champion , who today as Euro League operates. It was the first ever international season in basketball.

The first game in the history of the European Basketball Cup was played on February 22, 1958 as part of the qualification for the main round of the Royal SC Anderlecht from Belgium and BBC Etzella from Luxembourg . Anderlecht won the game with 82:43.

ASK Riga from the Soviet Union won the title .

mode

Eight champions from their respective national leagues took part in the final round. First, a qualification was played, which was occupied in four groups divided by region, of which two teams qualified for the final round. The winners of the pairings were determined in the first and second leg. The decisive factor was the overall basket ratio in both games. The winners of the pairings in the quarter-finals, in the semi-finals and in the final were also determined in the two-game leg.
