Fabiana Carvalho Carneiro Diniz (born May 13, 1981 in Guaratinguetá ) is a former Brazilian handball player who was part of the squad of the Brazilian national team.
Career
In the club
Fabiana Diniz, who goes by the nickname Dara , started playing handball in her hometown. After the circle player last played for Mauá / São Gonçalo in Brazil in 2003, she moved to the Portuguese club Gil Eanes at the end of the year. She later joined the Spanish club Cleba León. With Cleba León she won the Copa ABF in September 2006. In 2008 Diniz was signed by Orsán Elda Prestigio to compensate for the departure of Begoña Fernández . With Orsán Elda Prestigio she took part in the EHF Champions League .
Fabiana Diniz moved to league rivals CB Mar Alicante in 2009 and later joined Bera Bera. She participated in the EHF Cup with both clubs . In the summer of 2012 Dara signed a contract with the Austrian association Hypo Niederösterreich . With Hypo, she won both the Austrian championship and the ÖHB Cup in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons . In the EHF Champions League 2012/13 Hypo Niederösterreich was eliminated after the preliminary round, but qualified for the current competition of the European Cup Winners' Cup . Here Hypo moved into the final and won the final against the French club Issy Paris Hand . In 2014 she moved to the French first division club Nantes Loire Atlantique Handball . From July 1, 2015 she was under contract with the German club SG BBM Bietigheim . She ended her career in the summer of 2016.
In the national team
Fabiana Diniz initially played for the Brazilian junior national team and was then accepted into the squad of the senior national team. With the Brazilian selection, she took part in the 14th Pan American Games in Santo Domingo , the 15th Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 16th Pan American Games in Guadalajara , where she won the gold medal. The Brazilian also took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Fabiana Diniz was a member of the Brazilian World Cup squad several times . At the 2013 World Cup in Serbia , Dara celebrated winning the World Cup. At the Pan American Championship , she recorded five tournament victories - most recently in 2015 .
