Fabrizio Sforza

Fabrizio Sforza (* before 1970; † October 12, 2009 in Rome , Italy ) was an Italian make- up artist and special effects artist .

Life

Sforza began his career on the film staff in 1970 in Jean Negulesco's adventure film The Dirty Heroes of Yucca with Curd Jürgens and Elke Sommer . He then worked on films as diverse as José Gutiérrez Maesso's Poliziottesco Murderer Roulette , Federico Fellini 's Fellini 's Casanova and Joe D'Amato's sexploitation film Naked Among Cannibals . Sforza received the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Mask category for Bernardo Bertolucci's monumental film The Last Emperor in 1989, and Terry Gilliam's The Adventures of Baron Munchausen received a second award the following year . In 1990 he and Maggie Weston were nominated for an Oscar in the category of best make-up and best hairstyles for The Adventures of Baron Munchausen , but that year the award went to Miss Daisy and her chauffeur .

He then worked on a number of Hollywood productions such as The Godfather III , Lorenzo's Oil and The English Patient . For the latter film, he was nominated a third time for the BAFTA Film Award in 1997, but this time went empty for the first time. Over the course of his career, Sforza has worked with renowned directors such as Francis Ford Coppola , Martin Scorsese , Spike Lee and several times for Ridley Scott .
