Faha is a part of the municipality of Mettlach in the Merzig-Wadern district ( Saarland ). Until the end of 1973 Faha was an independent community. The place is on the Saargau .

history

In 768, Bishop Angilram of Metz donated the Villa Faho to the Gorze Abbey . In the 12th century, documents from the Archdiocese of Trier mention the noble free von Vah. Your tower hill castle (Motte) was about 600 meters northwest of today's town center. The Lords of Vah were later also castle men at Montclair Castle . Their trace was lost in the 14th century. The place Faha was owned by Kurtrier for centuries .

A tombstone was found in Faha which corresponds to one in the fortified church of Heltau in Transylvania . Archaeologists therefore associate the immigration of Transylvanian Saxons with the place Faha.

On January 1, 1974, Faha was incorporated into the municipality of Mettlach.

The place was always characterized by agriculture.
