Nohn is one of ten districts in the municipality of Mettlach in the Merzig-Wadern district ( Saarland ). Until the end of 1973 Nohn was an independent municipality.

history

The origin of the name Nohn is unclear. One assumption is that it goes back to the Latin "ad nonum lapidem" (to the ninth stone, a marking on the old Roman road Metz-Mainz and Metz-Trier) and the place is therefore a Roman foundation. In the Middle Ages, Nohn belonged to Lorraine and from 1766 to 1814 to France. It then became a Prussian domain.

On January 1, 1974, Nohn was incorporated into the municipality of Mettlach.
