Fahr Sindram (born January 28, 1981 in Kiel ) is a German manga artist and children's book author.

Career

Sindram was discovered in 2005 at the Leipzig Book Fair and signed by the Berlin publisher Butter & Cream. In the spring of the same year she started working in the manga department of the Weimar publishing house Schwarzer Turm , whose anthology Paper Theater she helped to design and oversee. Her short story Ron and Lilly appeared in it in 2005 .

In June 2006 she released her first solo publication Losing Neverland , which addresses child abuse . As part of the International Comic Salon Erlangen , Sindram's illustrations were exhibited together with Judith Park , Christina Plaka , Anike Hage , Gina Wetzel , DuO , Ying Zhou Cheng and Nina Werner in the Manga made in Germany gallery .

Starting in 2007, she draws the manga-style rock band Cinema Bizarre for Universal Music . This artwork has already been used for merchandise such as mugs or t-shirts. Together with Markus Heitz , she is a member of the jury for the Comicstars portal of the Munich publishing house Knaur .

In June 2011, a Winnetou exhibition was shown in the Hunting & Fishing Museum during the Munich comic festival, in which Fahr Sindram's contribution was exhibited.

Working method

Fahr Sindram creates your colorations and raster foils directly on the PC. After the pages have been inked, they are scanned and then processed in the computer. It also fills black areas and adds shadows. The publisher takes care of the lettering.

style

The Fahr Sindrams figures are characterized by expressive eyes and detailed costumes in Gothic style. Die Welt am Sonntag described their style as "eye-catching, dark and playful" . In particular, their commitment against child pornography is highlighted positively.

Honors

For her publication Losing Neverland , Fahr Sindram was included in the 15 portrait photo series “The Art of Thinking Tomorrow” by the German Council for Sustainable Development , which was shown for the first time in September 2006 in Berlin. The council expressly acknowledged her preventive work against child pornography in comics. She is the first female comic artist to have received this honor to date.
