Fairchild is a village ( Village ) in Fort Bend County in the state of Texas in the United States . At the last census in 2010 , Fairchilds had 763 inhabitants, the official estimate in 2016 put the population at 1,077.

Fairchilds is located in the southeast of the state of Texas in the Greater Houston metropolitan area , about six kilometers northeast of Needville , 14 kilometers south of Rosenberg and 55 kilometers southwest of Houston . Neighboring villages are Pleak to the north, Long Point to the southeast, Guy to the south, and Needville to the southwest and west.
Fairchilds is located on 361 Farm-to-Market Road and Interstate 69 is approximately twelve kilometers away. Near Fairchilds is Big Creek , a tributary of the Brazos River .
history
The first settlement by settlers of European descent at the site of the village took place around 1840, when Philo Fairchilds settled about one and a half kilometers south of what is now the center of Fairchilds. In 1890, the German emigrants Charles Blohm, August Bede and Theo Aderholz built a small settlement there and named it after its first inhabitant. In 1896, Mennonites founded a colony on Big Creek, in the following years around 50 families began, at this point a village with a road network, shops and two schools.
At the turn of the century, Fairchilds was hit by a malaria epidemic, and in 1900 the settlement was hit by the Galveston hurricane and completely destroyed. Most of the families then left the place, only two or three Mennonite families stayed and rebuilt the place. In 1912, Fairchilds was given a post office, but it was closed again after six years. In 1933 there were three businesses and 25 residents in Fairchilds, in 1936 Fairchilds had four businesses, a school and several farms with the same number of residents.
There are 75 residents in Fairchilds in 1940, up from 125 in 1953. There were no shops in the village in the 1960s. In 1990, Fairchilds had 150 residents and three businesses; two grocery stores and a tire dealer. Over the past 30 years, the population of Fairchilds has increased nearly tenfold.

2010 Census
In the 2010 United States Census, Fairchilds had 763 residents, spread across 255 households and 200 families. 78.4% of the population were white , 2.4% African American and 0.3% Asian ; 17.2% of the population were of other races and 1.8% had two or more races. Hispanics and Latinos of all races made up 32.0% of the total population.
There were married couples living in 63.1% of households, 8.2% of households were made up of single women and 7.1% of single men. 40.4% of households had children under the age of 18 living with them and 19.2% of households had seniors over 65 years of age.
The median age in Fairchilds in 2010 was 39.2 years. 27.0% of the residents were younger than 18 years, 7.6% were between 18 and 24, 25.0% between 25 and 44, 31.6% between 45 and 64 and 8.8% of the residents were 65 years or older older. 51.0% of the population were male and 49.0% female.

In the 2000 United States Census , Fairchilds had 678 residents in 211 households and 181 families. 89.97% of the population were white, 2.21% African American, 0.29% Asian, 0.15% Native American, and 6.38% other or multiple races. At the time of the census, the median income for a Fairchilds household was $ 52,500 and that of a family was $ 58,942. The average per capita income was $ 16,653. 4.4% of the population of Beasley lived below the poverty line , including 7.7% of the underage population and none of the residents over 65 years of age.
