Falk Schindler (born September 21, 1978 in Dresden ) is a former German soccer player . He became known through a doping affair in 2005 as a player for Kickers Emden .

Career

First stations

The 1.83 m tall and 72 kg heavy offensive midfielder plays with both feet and began his career with SG Striesen . He played for Dynamo Dresden from C to A youth . In July 1996 he moved, still as a junior player, to Hamburger SV , where he was mostly used in the second men's team. Only under Frank Pagelsdorf did he temporarily train with the professionals. After a total of seven years in the Hanseatic city, he moved to Chemnitzer FC on a free transfer in 2003 , where he continued to play in the northern season of the regional soccer league . In 2005 he switched to Kickers Emden .

Doping affair

On September 17, 2005, after the game Fortuna Düsseldorf against Kickers Emden, in which he contributed a goal to the 2-1 away win of his team , Falk Schindler tested positive for the substance carboxy finasteride in a doping test , which is used by both the world antidoping Agency (WADA) as well as by the world football association FIFA is classified as prohibited. It is not performance-enhancing itself, but it can mask the use of performance-enhancing substances such as anabolic steroids . The active ingredient was contained in a hair loss remedy that Falk Schindler had been taking regularly for years, but was only put on the doping list in 2005 . The player was then suspended for half a year and the regional league game was rated 2-0 for Düsseldorf. In addition, Falk Schindler was dismissed from his club without notice, although financial reasons probably also played a role. However, the discharge was later reversed after it became increasingly clear that Schindler was not taking finasteride to cover up other substances.

A few weeks after Schindler's offense there was a very similar case in the 2nd Bundesliga , as a result of which Nemanja Vučićević was also suspended from TSV 1860 Munich .

Since 2006

After serving his suspension, which was valid until April 2006, Schindler found the connection to the regional league team of Kickers Emden again. In total, he scored six goals in 13 games in the 2005/06 season . In the following season , which Emden finished in fourth place, he contributed three hits in 18 games. In July 2007, Falk Schindler moved to the upper division FV Dresden-Nord, which was renamed SC Borea Dresden during the following season . After only one year, he went to VFC Plauen in summer 2008 , which had been promoted to the Regionalliga Nord. In the following seasons he managed to stay with the club. The 2009/10 season was the most successful for Schindler with nine goals in 33 appearances and seventh place. With VFC Plauen, he qualified in 2012 for the newly created Regionalliga Nordost . In 2015 he was relegated to the Oberliga Nordost with Plauen . In summer 2017 he joined the Plauen district association SG Unterlosa .

Coaching career

In January 2018 he returned to VFC Plauen and became Daniel Rupf's assistant trainer . On June 11, 2019, the club announced that Falk Schindler would continue to be hired as head coach. Schindler had previously held the post as interim coach for seven games after Daniel Rupf was on leave.
