Fang Yuan

Fang Yuan (Chinese 袁 芳, Pinyin yuán fāng) (* 1982 in Xuzhou , Jiangsu , China ) is a Chinese pianist .

Live and act

Fang Yuan received her first piano lessons at the age of four and began performing in public at the age of six. She attended elementary and middle school of the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing , where she completed music studies with Yuan Wu. After graduating from high school, she studied at the Munich University of Music and Theater from 2001 with Gerhard Oppitz and Michael Schäfer and finished her studies in 2008 with a double degree in piano and chamber music . In addition, she completed master classes a . a. with András Schiff and Klaus Hellwig .

She won international piano competitions. In 2004 she was a prize winner at the Munich Piano Podium and was accepted into the Munich Pianist Club. She is also a Bösendorfer artist .

In Germany, Fang Yuan founded the MHM Piano Quintet and the Spianato Piano Trio and has given concerts with them in Europe and Asia. She has performed at European music festivals such as the Max Reger Days Weiden , the Sintra Music Festival in Portugal and the Bad Kissingen Music Festival and has made regular guest appearances on renowned Chinese stages. She also premiered several times at the Beijing Modern Music Festival and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016 .

Fang Yuan has given concerts around the world with numerous well-known conductors such as u. a. Zubin Mehta , Lawrence Foster , Walter Weller , Rico Saccani , Xiaoying Zheng, Jia Lv, Yongyan Hu, Yi Zhang, Daye Lin and Simon Gaudenz as well as with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra , the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra , the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Czech Philharmonic , the China Philharmonic Orchestra , the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra .

Music recordings and radio broadcasts took place u. a. with Bayerischer Rundfunk and the BBC .

At the age of 29, Fang Yuan became a professor of piano and chamber music at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, and she also gave master classes a. a. in Hong Kong and Shenzhen . Her students have won numerous prizes in national and international competitions. She also held seminars at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and acted as a jury member in competitions in China .
