Fatcat (also spelled FATCAT ) is an eight-member funk band from Freiburg im Breisgau that was founded in 2013 by music students from the Freiburg Jazz & Rock Schools .
history
Even before the actual formation of the band, there was an instrumental formation under the name Project Mayhem . In March 2013 singer Kenny Joyner joined the band. With a new direction of style, the band was renamed Fatcat. Her first in-house production, New Funk , was released in 2013 . In 2014, the second in-house production, Get On Up, followed, as well as the first music video for the single Light Up (in Full HD ), produced by students from the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences . In November 2016, the band released their debut album Champagne Rush , she with producer Tommy W. ( friends , Massive tones etc.) in Terra Sound Studio in Stuttgart recordings and produced under the label Orange Goose Records . The first advance single, Glitter & Gold , was released with the accompanying music video in October 2016.
In 2016 the band played at festivals such as the Jazzopen Stuttgart , the Voices Festival in Lörrach and the Zelt-Musik-Festival in Freiburg. FATCAT appeared as a support band for international artists such as Chaka Khan , Jamie Cullum , Saga and Anastacia . In 2017 the band played at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. In 2018 the band made their first appearance at the Fusion Festival in Lärz and played at Bellevue Palace at the invitation of Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier. In 2019 the band released their third studio EP Love Child and played on the Baltic Soul Weekender on Weissenhäuser Strand.
