Fehndorf is a district of the city of Haren (Ems) in the Lower Saxony district of Emsland .

Geography and transport links

The place is west of the core area of ​​Haren directly on the western border with the Netherlands , directly on the north-south running county road K 202 and the east confluence K 242. The A 31 runs east.

The 45.6 km long south-north canal runs through the village . Like all the surrounding communities, Fehndorf is located in the Bourtanger Moor , which was formerly the largest contiguous moor area in Western Europe. It is located in the Emsland west of the Ems and was one of the largest moorland areas in Germany until the 1950s. It extends in the west into the Netherlands and is named after the Dutch fortified town of Bourtange .
