Field hockey Bundesliga 2007/08 (men)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the 2007/08 season of the 1st Bundesliga men , a new game system was introduced on a trial basis. The system was modified in the following years, but ultimately discarded. For the 2011/12 season, the system was played again with a round trip.

Game system

In the preliminary round (league phase) the 12 teams played in a simple round each against each other without a second leg. The teams then played the quarter-finals in play-off games (best of three) in places one to eight. The winners of the play-off played a championship round, the losers a round of hope. The two best teams in the championship round contested the final of the German championship, the third-placed team played against the winner of the round of hope for third place, who qualified for participation in the Euro Hockey League . The teams in places eight to twelve of the league phase determined the two relegated teams in a relegation round.

In addition, the scoring for games with a tie has been changed. In these games, after the end of regular time, a seven-meter shooting was carried out. The winner of the seven-meter shooting received one more point, so the games were rated 2: 1 points and no longer 1: 1. In the notation of the game results, the victory in the seven-meter shooting was indicated with a plus sign, example: the game TG Frankenthal - Uhlenhorst Mülheim ended 3: 3, Mühlheim won the seven-meter shooting, the game result was noted in the form 3: 3+. If Frankenthal had won the seven-meter shooting, the result would have been +3: 3.
