Life

Römer, who grew up in Goßfelden near Marburg , is considered one of the pioneers of the German-speaking slam scene. As early as 1999, when the format was still very young in Germany, Römer traveled as a poet through the German-speaking area and appeared with his poetry and prose at the first poetry slam events in Germany. He himself calls the format "Rock 'n' Roll for the unmusical". Between 1999 and 2004 he was a member of the permanent acting ensemble of the Goethe-Theater Wiesbaden. Behind Marc-Uwe Kling he achieved second place in the individual competition at the German-speaking slam championships in Munich in 2006 . Together with Sebastian 23 , Lars Ruppel and Gabriel Vetter he formed the performative stage literature team "SMAAT", which called itself a "slam boy group". In 2007 he became the German-speaking poetry slam master in a team competition with SMAAT in Berlin . The quartet went on tour with several stage programs, two CDs with SMAAT texts were released. Römer was a permanent member of various reading stages , including the Berlin reading stage " berlinerWald " from 2006 , together with Frank Klötgen , Wolf Hogekamp and Bas Böttcher , among others . In 2015, Satyr- Verlag published the text collection " Hindered Hero: Do it! But if not, shut up. " Previously, he says, he was afraid to publish a book because he feared that his texts would not work without his performance. In addition, many of his texts have been published in anthologies and literary journals. He moderates and organizes various poetry slams in Berlin as well as Hesse and Lower Saxony , for example in Eschwege , Kassel and Göttingen . Römer is also the leader of workshops on the subjects of poetry slam and creative writing . Römer currently lives and works in Berlin. He has three children.
