Otto Philipp Ferdinand Doering , von Doering since 1818 (born May 9, 1792 in Stolp , † May 16, 1877 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Ferdinand was a son of the sergeant in the cadet house Stolp Georg Friedrich Doering (1740-1806) and his wife Elise Regine, née Gebert. Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Doering (1791–1866) was his nephew.

Military career

Doering joined the Colberg Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army in 1809 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by the beginning of April 1812 . During the wars of liberation he acquired the Iron Cross 2nd class at the siege of Wittenberg and took part in the sieges in Herthabenbusch, Givet and Charlemont. He also fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Großbeeren , Dennewitz , Leipzig and Laon . At Ligny he received the Iron Cross 1st Class in 1815. Then Doering fought at Waterloo . He also took part in the battles at Colditz, Siegersdorf, Soissons and the storm on Compiegne and was wounded at Namur and Arnhem.

After the war, Doering was transferred as adjutant to the Landwehr inspection in Anklam on September 20, 1816 , and was promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-October 1816 . On April 23, 1819 Doering was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility. At the end of March 1820 he joined the General Staff of the II Army Corps , was promoted to captain the following year and was aggregated with the 14th Infantry Regiment on September 10, 1834 with promotion to major while remaining in his position . On March 30, 1838 he was then battalion commander in the 14th Infantry Regiment and shortly afterwards on April 10, 1838 seconded to the War Ministry. There he was appointed head of the clothing department on April 7, 1842 and promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1843 . As a colonel , he was aggregated to the 9th Infantry Regiment and on November 29, 1848 was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, Second Class with Oak Leaves. On 15 May 1849 he was with the character as a major general with board for discussion provided. He died on May 16, 1877 in Berlin.

Doering married Josepha von Morkowski (1803–1866), a daughter of Justice Commissioner Bernhard von Morkowski, in Berlin on November 5, 1823. She was buried on May 19, 1866 at the Matthäifriehof . The couple had several children:
