Ferran Cruixent

Ferran Cruixent (born July 23, 1976 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan composer and pianist living in Barcelona.

Life

His repertoire includes works for orchestra , chamber music , vocal music and multimedia .

Since 2008 his repertoire has been published by Sikorski Musikverlage (Hamburg). A number of well-known orchestras (Bayerische Staatsorchester, Detroit Symphony Orchestra , Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern, Staatskapelle Weimar, Beijing Symphony Orchestra , Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá etc.) have their works under the direction of conductors such as Leonard Slatkin , Christoph Poppen , Hannu Lintu , Karl-Heinz Steffens , Toshiyuki Kamioka , Danail Rachev , Tan Lihua or Jochen Rieder performed very successfully.

In 2011, Virtual was premiered for a large orchestra as a symphonic composition commission from the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern. In 2010, the commissioned work Cyborg for large orchestra was premiered with the Staatskapelle Weimar under the direction of Christoph Poppen. With this work, Cruixent takes up the concept of cyber singing, in which orchestral instruments are communicated with modern technical means. In the same year Ferran Cruixent was invited as a composer in the portrait of the International Classical Festival Freckles Rottweil, where several chamber music works have been performed. a. two commissioned world premieres.

His percussion concert Focs d'artifici (Fireworks) has been played over 30 times since 2008, for example in the National Theater in Beijing, and is the result of a successful collaboration with the drummer Peter Sadlo .

In 2007, Ferran Cruixent created the theme music for Querbeet , the most successful garden show on German television at the time, which is broadcast on Bavarian Radio .

The Miró Foundation in Barcelona selected Ferran Cruixent for the "Músiques d'avui" (Music of Today) program for the 2008/2009 season. In 2006 he founded the online magazine Stereotips for music analysis and criticism. In 2007 he founded the musical and visual project Urban Surround with the film director Joan Carles Martorell .

Cruixent graduated from the Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona in 1999 , studying piano with Carmen Vilà and music theory. At the same time, he also studies violin and singing . In 2004 he completed his composition studies at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Dieter Acker , composition for film and television with Enjott Schneider and two years later the master class diploma in composition with Dieter Acker.
