Ferrovie della Calabria
The Ferrovie della Calabria (FC) is a railway company in the southern Italian region of Calabria . It was created in 1991 by the division of Ferrovie Calabro Lucane (FCL) and runs a narrow gauge railway with 950 mm gauge and bus lines.
history
The Ferrovie della Calabria network was built from 1916 to 1956 by the Mediterranea-Calabro-Lucane (MCL). After the Fiumarella railway accident , the MCL's license was withdrawn in 1963 and given to Ferrovie Calabro Lucane . At the end of 1990, the FCL network was divided between the Ferrovie della Calabria and the Ferrovie Appulo-Lucane (FAL). Therefore there is a certain correspondence between the two tracks, e.g. B. in vehicles.
Route network
Until 2011, the Ferrovie della Calabria railway lines were divided into two sub-networks:
- Routes departing from Cosenza :
- Cosenza – Pedace – Catanzaro (with rack between Catanzaro Città and Catanzaro Lido)
- Pedace – San Giovanni in Fiore (museum railway)
- Routes starting from Gioia Tauro (both discontinued in 2011):
The bus routes are operated by the Castrovillari , Catanzaro, Cosenza, Gioia Tauro, Petilia Policastro , Marina di Gioiosa Ionica and Vibo Valentia depots . The network consists of around 90 regional bus routes and the city bus companies in Castrovillari, Gioia Tauro and Vibo Valentia.
Until 2015, Ferrovie della Calabria were responsible for the operation of the Catanzaro funicular . Since then, the municipal transport company has been responsible for the funicular.
