Finn from Eyben
Finn Edler von Eyben (born July 27, 1944 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish internist who has also emerged as a jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass , composition); as an oncologist , he laid the foundations for a standard microbiological test.
Live and act
Eyben learned the cello early on and then switched to the double bass. From 1959 he belonged to the sextet Boptetten , from which a quintet around Willy Jaegert and John Tchicai developed, which performed weekly; In 1962 she was invited to Helsinki for the World Youth Games, where she came into contact with Bill Dixon and Archie Shepp .
In the next few years Eyben performed in Copenhagen with radio jazz groups and led his own ensembles; he also improvised with the poets Poul Borum and Inger Christensen , the Fluxus artist Henning Christiansen and the painter Poul Gernes . In 1965 he toured with the New York Art Quartet around Roswell Rudd and John Tchicai beyond Denmark (a concert on Radio Hilversum was published in 1971 as a robbery under Rudd's name). In 1964 he learned from Michael von Biel the concept of guiding musicians through verbal instructions, which he also used for his own recordings with radio jazz groups.
After studying medicine, Eyben worked for more than 35 years as a doctor in the field of internal medicine and oncology, mainly as a researcher and consultant. He has published more than 140 original communications and other articles in scientific newspapers. He was the first oncologist to describe that increased levels of L-lactate dehydrogenase could indicate testicular germ cell tumors . He also described the micro-invasive germ cell tumor of the testis as an intermediate stage in the development of testicular germ cell tumors. He also pointed out ophthalmological complications from tamoxifen and established the view that mitotane can be the cause of acute intermittent porphyria . He also confirmed the evidence that cigarette smoking is a highly significant and the most important changeable cardiovascular risk factor for acute myocardial infarction in people under 40 years of age. Accordingly, he also publicly advocated a smoke-free Denmark. He published a book on testicular germ cell tumors and one on smoking cessation.
