Finnish qualifications for the Eurovision Song Contest
Finland has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1961 .
Qualification 2006
The Finnish qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 took place on March 10, 2006 in the Caribia Hall in Turku . The winner was the hard rock band Lordi with the title Hard Rock Hallelujah . At the final in Athens , the title took first place in the final and ensured Finland's first victory at a Eurovision Song Contest.
In the run-up, four preliminary rounds (on January 3, January 20, January 27 and February 3, 2006) were held. Three participants competed in each of these preliminary rounds. Each artist presented two songs. The audience chose the better song from each participant, which could then be seen again in the final on March 10th and could be chosen for the ticket to Athens .

Qualification 2007
The preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 took place on February 17th 2007 in the Caribia Hall in Turku. As in the previous year, four preliminary rounds (on January 20, January 27, February 3 and February 10, 2006) were held in advance. In the final, the more popular songs were presented again, from which the three best were chosen. In the final “Superfinal”, Hanna Pakarinen won with 73,052 votes ahead of Thunderstone (54,716 votes) and Lovex (38,175 votes) and will represent the host country Finland at the Song Contest.

Qualification 2008
The preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 took place on March 1st, 2008 at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki . In contrast to previous years, this year each of the twelve participants entered with just one song. In the three preliminary rounds (on February 8th, 15th and 22nd) four participants each presented their contribution. The two more popular entries automatically qualified for the finals, while the other two entries went on to another qualifying round. This qualifying round took place in the early evening of March 1st shortly before the actual qualifying round and allowed two entries that had already been eliminated to participate in the final. The three most popular entries from the finals presented their entries again in the final “superfinal” before a final vote took place. The true metal band Teräsbetoni won with 38.9% of the votes ahead of the pop singer Kari Tapio (33%) and the dance musician Cristal Snow (27.1%).

Qualification 2009
The preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 took place on January 31, 2009 in the Tampereen Messuja Urheilukeskus (TESC) in Tampere . The procedure from the previous year was retained. In the three preliminary rounds (on January 9th, 16th and 21st) four participants each presented their contribution. The two more popular entries automatically qualified for the finals, while the other two entries went on to another qualifying round. This qualifying round took place in the early evening of January 31st, shortly before the actual qualifying round, and enabled two entries that had already been eliminated to take part in the final. The three most popular entries from the finals presented their entries again in the final “superfinal” before a final vote took place. The Eurodance band Waldo's People won with 45.1% of the votes ahead of the hip-hop band Signmark feat. Osmo Ikonen (41.2%) and the pop-rock band Passionworks feat. Tony Turunen (13.7%).

2010 qualification
The preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 took place under the title Eurovision Laulukilpailu on January 30, 2010 in the Tampereen Messuja Urheilukeskus (TESC) in Tampere . In the three preliminary rounds (on January 8th, 15th and 22nd) five participants each presented their contribution. The three more popular entries in each round automatically qualified for the final round. From the remaining six entries, a jury was able to promote two more to the final, but decided to only help Maria Lund's entry . The final took place on the evening of January 30th. The three most popular entries in the final ( Nina Lassander , Eläkeläiset and Kuunkuiskaajat ) presented their entries one more time in the final “superfinal” before a final vote took place.

Qualification 2011
The preliminary rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 will take place under the title Eurovision Laulukilpailu at the Holiday Club Caribia in the 2011 cultural capital of Turku .
The preselection worked according to the same scheme as in the previous year. In the three preliminary rounds on January 14th, 21st and 28th, five participants each presented their contribution. The three more popular entries in each round automatically qualified for the final round. From the remaining six entries, a jury was able to promote two more to the final. In 2011, the jury only helped one contribution, that of Eveliina Määttä .
The final took place on the evening of February 12, 2011. The three most popular entries in the finals ( Paradise Oskar , Father McKenzie and Saara Aalto ) presented their entries again in the final “superfinal” before a final vote took place.
