The flag of Gibraltar consists of two horizontal stripes: above, twice the width, white and below red . A three-towered red castle is shown in the white stripe . A golden key hangs from the castle gate .

It has been the official flag of Gibraltar since November 8, 1982 and is sometimes shown together with the Union Jack and the European flag .
