The Jersey flag was adopted by Jersey on June 12, 1979, confirmed by Queen Elizabeth II on December 10, 1980, and first hoisted on April 1, 1981.
It has a white background on which a red Andrew's cross (the St. Patrick's Cross) and above it a crowned coat of arms of Jersey , which shows the three leopards of Normandy on a red background, is depicted. Before the flag used today became official, a flag with a St. Patrick's Cross without a coat of arms was in use.
A Blue Ensign with Jersey's coat of arms in the flight section has served as the naval service flag since 1907 . The British Red Ensign was used as the trade flag without a coat of arms until 2010 , now it bears a crowned coat of arms of Jersey in the flight section. The flag of the Lieutenant governor of Jersey consists of a Union flag with a crest in the center.
