Flak Brigade Frantz

The Flak Brigade Frantz was a short-term association of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War .

Mission history

At the beginning of 1940 the brigade was formed by renaming the staff of the Luxembourg air defense command in Mayen and took part in the western campaign. It was named after its commanding officer , Colonel Gotthard Frantz .

In the summer of 1940, the brigade was given the number of Flak Regiment 7, was converted to Flak Brigade VII and Frantz became the commander of Air War School 6. The Flak Brigade VII was first used in Luxembourg and later in France . From November 1941 the deployment in Sicily followed and there in August 1942 the reshuffle in the 19th Flak Division .

The brigade was subordinate to the Air Defense Command 11 and later to the Air Defense Command 9 .
