Air Force General Channel Islands

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The General of the Channel Islands Air Force was a command staff at brigade level in the Air Force during World War II . Its formation took place on September 2, 1943 by converting the brigade staff of the 11th Flak Brigade . The brigade staff acted as the superior of all flak forces on the Channel Islands occupied by the Wehrmacht, Guernsey , Jersey and Alderney , with the command post on Guernsey.

Tactically, the General of the Channel Islands Air Force was initially under Major General Alfons Luczny (February 1, 1942 to September 30, 1943) and then by Colonel and later Major General Alexander Dini, initially directly to the Feld-Luftgaukommando West France and, after the successful Allied landing in Normandy, to the Air Force Command West . In November 1944, the command staff was subordinated to the responsible fortress commanders (probably Dunkirk). The surrender took place after May 8, 1945.
