Florian Blatter (born May 12, 1984 ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds since 2014 .

Career

Florian Blatter began his career with the juniors of SC Rapperswil-Jona . In 2000 he switched to the elite A-Juniors of HC Davos and attended the sports high school in Davos. In the 2001/02 ice hockey season he made his debut in the National League A (NLA) for Davos. In the 2002/03 season he played five games for the Davos Juniors, but was in the HC Thurgau squad in the National League B for most of the season . He also played eleven season games for HC Davos in the NLA and on February 2, 2003 scored his first goal against HC Ambrì-Piotta . He was also a member of the NLA squad during the playoffs. In the following season he was a permanent member of the professional squad of the HCD and was only loaned to EHC Chur for one game.

In the following two years, Blatter developed into a defensive defender who also has a good slap shot. In 2006 he won the Spengler Cup with HC Davos and in 2005 and 2007 he was Swiss champion with the same club . For the 2008/09 season he moved back to his home club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , which he left after the 2010/2011 season for HC Lugano , where he signed a two-year contract. In November 2012, Blatter had to undergo hip surgery, which is why he missed the rest of the 2012/13 season.

International

Florian Blatter played his first game for Switzerland at the U18 World Cup in 2002 . Two years later was part of the Swiss U20 national team at the 2004 U20 World Cup .

In November 2007 he was appointed to the Swiss national ice hockey team for the first time (participation in the Germany Cup 2007) and scored the 1-0 in the final against Team Canada .
