Florian Notz (born April 24, 1992 in Dettingen an der Erms ) is a German cross-country skier . He has been part of the customs ski team since 2011 .

Career

Notz, who competes for the SZ (ski guild) Römerstein, took part in junior races until 2012. In the 2011/12 season, he finished fifth in the U20 overall ranking of the Alpencup. Since 2012 he has been competing in the cross-country Alpine Cup , which he finished in 2014 with fifth place in the overall ranking. He ran his first World Cup race in March 2014 in Lahti , which he finished in seventh place in the 15 km freestyle and thus also won World Cup points. In his first Tour de Ski in 2015 , he finished 40th in the overall ranking. In February 2015 he won gold over 15 km freestyle at the U23 World Championships in Almaty . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he finished 47th in the skiathlon , 35th place over 15 km freestyle and seventh place with the relay. After 31st place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he achieved his best season position in the World Cup with 16th place in the skiathlon in Lillehammer . In March 2016 he won the pursuit race at the Alpine Cup in Toblach . At the beginning of the following season he came in 38th place in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer. In the further course of the season he achieved 17th place in the Tour de Ski 2016/17 and 47th place in the World Cup final in Québec . At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, he finished 47th in the 50 km mass start race, 16th in the skiathlon and sixth place in the relay. He finished the season in 35th place in the overall World Cup and in 31st place in the Distance World Cup. In the 2017/18 season he finished 30th at the Tour de Ski 2017/18 and 39th at the World Cup final in Falun. In March 2018 he and Janosch Brugger finished third in the team sprint at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl .

In the 2018/19 season, Notz took 47th place in the Lillehammer Triple, 13th place in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and 24th place in the World Cup finals in Québec , reaching 33rd place in the overall World Cup and 28th place. Rank in the Distance World Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he finished 22nd in the 50 km mass start race, 18th in the skiathlon and sixth in the relay. At the end of March 2019 he was third in the mass start race over 30 km freestyle at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl .

Notz has been part of the customs ski team since August 2011 as a customs officer .

Florian Notz is the son of Dieter Notz , who was also a cross-country skier and took part in the 1980 Winter Olympics.
