Florian Waldvogel
Florian Waldvogel (born May 21, 1969 in Offenburg ) is a German exhibition curator .
biography
Waldvogel studied art education at the State Academy of Fine Arts - Städelschule in Frankfurt and was from 1993 to 1998 there assistant and protégé of Kasper König . From 1998 to 2000 Waldvogel was project manager of InBetween, the official art project of EXPO 2000 , Hanover , and from 2001 to 2003 together with Marius Babias artistic director of the project contemporary art and criticism in the coking plant Zollverein in Essen .
In 2001 and 2002 he was visiting professor for art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 2004 he curated Nizza Transfer , a project in public space on the banks of the Frankfurt Main, in which artistic activities, urban discourse, skateboarding and youth culture came together. Waldvogel was co-curator of exhibitions such as Just Do It! -The subversion of characters from Marcel Duchamp to Prada Meinhof in the Kunstmuseum Linz 2005, Manifesta 6 in Nicosia , Cyprus (2006) or - for the soccer world championship - of “The Big Piece of Lawn” in the public space between the main train station and the castle in Nuremberg (2006).
From 2006 to 2008 he worked as a curator under Nicolaus Schafhausen at the Witte de With - Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam. From 2009, Waldvogel was director of the Kunstverein in Hamburg, succeeding Yilmaz Dziewior . In the same year he was elected to the board of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine . In 2013, after internal quarrels, he resigned as director of the art association. His successor was Bettina Steinbrügge .
Waldvogel was in 2015 at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (Academy of Fine Arts) with a theme for the exhibition practices of Kasper König to Dr. phil in art. PhD.
On April 1, 2019, he will be the new head of the art history collections from 1900 at the Tyrolean State Museum .
