Florrie (* 28 December 1988 in Bristol , England as Florence Ellen Arnold ) is an English pop singer , songwriter , drummer , guitarist and model .

Life

Florrie was born as Florence Arnold in Bristol, England. While on vacation in Greece, the family visited a restaurant with live music. 6 year old Florrie was immediately fascinated by the drums. Back at home in Bristol, she begged her parents until they gave her a drum kit for her seventh birthday. As a teenager she founded the cover band FiFi Saloon with two friends and played Avril Lavigne songs. In 2005 Florrie dropped out of school and moved to London with the band Self Service. Thanks to the promotion of young talent from producer Guy Chambers , Florrie played for 18 months in the evening with various bands in bars. To supplement the low salary , she worked as a babysitter during the day.

In 2008, Florrie left the band Self Service due to lack of time. Two weeks later, the manager of the Australian pop singer Gabriella Cilmi placed her with the production company Xenomania. There Florrie signed a contract as a drummer. From then on she played live and in the studio and a. for Girls Aloud , Kylie Minogue and the Pet Shop Boys . In 2010, Florrie co-wrote the song One Touch for the duo Mini Viva . Brian Higgins, Xenomania's executive director and music producer, encouraged Florrie to sing one of her songs herself. Together with the French music producer and DJ Fred Falke, she composed the song Call 911 , which she made available for download free of charge on the Internet. Over 1000 accesses were registered within a few days.

In mid-2010, the Spanish perfume and fashion group Nina Ricci provided Florrie as the face and voice for the new perfume Nina L'Elixir. In the advertising campaign , Florrie presented a cover version of the blondie hit Sunday Girl .

On November 15, 2010, Florrie released her first EP Introduction with the songs Call of the Wild , Give Me Your Love , Summer Nights and Left Too Late . The EP was available for free download on their website and the iTunes Store. At the same time, an edition reduced to 500 copies was pressed onto 12-inch vinyl records. In the same year Florrie went on tour in Great Britain and supported Two Door Cinema Club on their tour in France and Switzerland.

Florrie's second EP, Experiments , was released on June 14, 2011 with the songs Speed ​​of Light , Experimenting with Rugs , What You Doing This For? I Took a Little Something , Begging Me and She Always Gets What She Wants . The main single Begging me and Florrie's first music video for the song was released on April 28th of that year . The music video for the second single I took a Little Something was created in collaboration with the Italian fashion company Dolce & Gabbana .

In January 2012, Nina Ricci presented Florrie as the face and voice for the new perfume Nina Fantasy. The song She Always Gets What She Wants used for this advertising campaign is from Florrie's second EP Experiments . On May 25, 2012, Florrie announced that she had decided to sign a contract with one of the major music labels . Florrie's third EP, Late , was released six days later, and the last as an independent artist . The official music video for the song Shot you down was presented on June 23, 2012.

On February 24, 2013, the jeans label Vigoss presented Florrie as the advertising face of the spring campaign. Electronics company Sony released a commercial for their XBA-C10 headphones on April 3rd with Florrie's song Live a Little . In early February 2014, Florrie signed with the music label Sony Music Entertainment and announced their 4th EP Sirens on February 19 . This was released on April 25, 2014 with the songs Seashells , Free Falling , Wanna Control Myself and the two remixes Little White Lies (Shadow Child Dub Remix) and Seashells (Preditah Remix). The corresponding music videos for the first 3 songs were released at the same time . On July 7, 2014, the video for the single Little White Lives was released. A few weeks later, on August 15, 2014, Florrie's EP White Lies was released with the main song, 5 remixes and 2 Florrie remixes of older songs.

From October 6 to 17, 2014, Florrie toured the Coffee House Sessions and gave 25 concerts at British universities.

On February 5, 2016, the single and the video for their new song Real Love were released .

Florrie shares a house in Kent, England, with her friend and colleague Annie Rose Yuill .

Music genre

Inspired by the music of Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry, Florrie describes her style of music as a great mix of 1960s music, organic feel intertwined with pop and electronic music - also known as upbeat electropop.
