The Fluchtkogel is 3494 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Ötztal Alps in Tyrol . The ice-covered mountain lies north above the Kesselwandferner , and the steep, south- westerly firn flank forms the highest area of this glacier. A narrow ridge extends to the north, which divides at the rocky corner pillar point 3417 and runs north to the Gepatschjoch and east to the Hintergrasljoch . There has been a cross on the summit since 2006 .
The easiest ascent is an easy alpine tour and leads in 1½ hours from the Brandenburger Haus over the Kesselwandferner and the Obere Guslarjoch . The Obere Guslarjoch can also be reached from the Vernagthütte via the Guslarferner , but crevasses can be problematic in the upper part of the glacier.
As early as 1865, Cyprian Granbichler made a first, unsuccessful attempt to reach the summit. It was only four years later, on July 19, 1869, that Valentin Kaltdorff, Franz Senn and Julius Scholz (with the guides Alois Ennemoser and Gabriel Spechtenhauser) reached the summit of the Fluchtkogel.
