The Niš airport - Constantine the Great ( Serbian : Аеродром Ниш - Константин Велики) is the second largest airport in Serbia and is 4 km from the city of Nis . It is named after the Roman emperor Constantine the Great .
history
Niš Airport was built as a military airfield during the socialist era of Yugoslavia . In 1999 it was badly damaged by NATO air strikes. With the support of Norway , the airport was rebuilt and opened for civil aviation on October 12, 2003 under the new name Constantine the Great .
Airlines and Destinations
The Aero flight school has been offering its services with a fleet of four aircraft since 2004 .
In the 2005/2006 winter season, 13 Thomsonfly charter flights brought around 3500 tourists from Great Britain to the Kopaonik Mountains ski region via Niš Airport .
In the 2013 flight schedule there was only one scheduled connection with Montenegro Airlines to Podgorica . From June 2015 Wizz Air offered direct connections to Vienna , Basel , Malmö , Dortmund , Eindhoven and Memmingen , Ryanair to Berlin , Bratislava , Bergamo and Weeze and Swiss and Germania flights to Zurich .
