The Varkaus Airport is the airport of the Finnish town of Varkaus .
The airport is located in the municipality of Joroinen , immediately east of the town center on the shores of Lake Joroisselkä. The center of Varkaus is around 16 km away. It was commissioned in 1937 as Joroinen Airfield and initially served as a base for the Finnish Air Force .
The airport is used for freight traffic for industry based in the surrounding area. The airline Finncomm Airlines used to offer passenger flights to Helsinki. There are currently no scheduled flights to or from Varkaus.
