François Touvet (born May 13, 1965 in Paris , France ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Châlons .

Life

After graduating from high school, François Touvet trained as an officer in the French Navy at the Saint-Cyr military school . He then entered the seminary in Paray-le-Monial . Further training took place in Besançon and at the Institut Catholique de Lyon , where he obtained a licentiate in theology in 1992 . On June 28, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Dijon dijon .

In addition to various tasks in pastoral care, he was diocesan pastor for the Eucharistic Youth Movement from 1996 to 2004 . From 2002 to 2004 he was Episcopal Vicar for the pastoral care region of Seine et Tilles and then until 2010 General Vicar of the Archdiocese of Dijon. In the year he took over the office of cathedral priest at the cathedral of Langres in the neighboring diocese of Langres . In 2012 he also became Episcopal Vicar for the Pastoral Care Region South. In 2014 he was appointed vicar general of the Langres diocese.

On December 23, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Châlons. The Archbishop of Reims , Thierry Jordan , ordained him episcopal on February 28 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Langres , Joseph de Metz-Noblat , and his predecessor Gilbert Louis .
