Franca Fiacconi

Franca Fiacconi (born October 4, 1965 in Rome ) is a former Italian long-distance runner .

Life

She achieved numerous podiums in various marathons . Her most significant successes include victories at the New York City Marathon (1998), the Turin Marathon (1996 and 1998), the Rome Marathon (1998) and the Prague Marathon (1999). In the context of the Maratona d'Italia 1996 and the Turin Marathon 1998, she won the Italian championship title in the marathon. At the Universiade 1993 in Buffalo she won the silver medal, at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 she finished thirteenth and at the European Athletics Championships in 1998 in Budapest fourth.

In 2001 she also won the Marathon des Sables , a stage run over around 243 km through the Moroccan Sahara .

Franca Fiacconi is 1.74 m tall and had a competition weight of 55 kg.
