List of Saarland artists
The list of Saarland artists includes artists who were born in Saarland or who work or have worked artistically in Saarland. Artist groups and collaborations are not listed. The aim of the list is to give the user an overview of the Saarland artist scene as well as to verify individual artists and to be able to assign them to their original art area.
Since today's Saarland only received preliminary forms of its later independence from 1920 with the Peace Treaty of Versailles , the persons included in the list are to be classified as contemporary artists. A few artists who used to live in what is now Saarland (e.g. Elisabeth von Lothringen , Friedrich Joachim Stengel and others) are also listed because of their importance.
The aim of the list is to be complete. Artists from the following areas are accepted, if possible with their life data. When naming the individual areas, explanatory additions (differentiations) can follow.
- Fine arts including photography
- performing Arts
- literature
- music
- architecture
The list is intended to give as comprehensive an overview as possible of the Saarland artist scene and to serve as an initial, fundamental verification of a person. For the inclusion of an artist name in the list, the existence of relevance and reception in the art discourse is a prerequisite, i. H. an encyclopedic article about the artist must in principle be possible according to the inclusion criteria of Wikipedia, even if the article does not yet exist. Artists of only local importance are not listed.
