Susanne Specht
Susanne Specht (* 1958 in Saarbrücken ) is a German sculptor .
life and work
Specht studied sculpture with Michael Schoenholtz at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1980 to 1986 . She received the Nafög scholarship for young talent and lived in Brittany from 1986 to 1988 as part of a DAAD study visit . In 1987 she won the Zweibrücken Art Prize and from 1989–1991 received successively a studio grant from the Karl Hofer Society , a grant from the Berlin Senate and a grant from the Eurocréation in Niort (France). In 1992 she co-founded the Töpchin studio community together with Azade Köker , Ralf Sander , Yoshimi Hashimoto, Andreas Theurer and other visual artists. From 1994 to 2000 she was a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts , where she directed the foundation course in sculpture. In 2003 she taught at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Würzburg . In 2008 she was appointed professor for design theory and three-dimensional design at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld . Since 2013, Specht has been a member of the board of trustees of the Willms Neuhaus Foundation - Chance and Design.
Susanne Specht mainly worked in stone, especially eclogite and granite . Since 2005 she has been making works from concrete and other materials.
Her works can be found in public spaces , in sculpture gardens and in museums.
