Alois Peitz
Alois Peitz (born May 3, 1932 in Saarbrücken ) is a multiple award-winning German architect and university professor who planned numerous buildings and published writings.
Life
Alois Peitz was born in Saarbrücken as the son of a locksmith. He studied architecture with Hans Döllgast at the Technical University of Munich and received his diploma in 1959. Döllgast and Romano Guardini strengthened his critical spirit. He then passed the major state examination for the higher technical service and in 1962 became provisional head of the State Building Construction Office in Saarbrücken. He was the diocesan architect of the Diocese of Trier and head of the “Building - Art - Technical Services” department in the Episcopal Vicariate in Trier from 1966 to 1995. In 1968 he was appointed a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).
From 1988 to 2007, Peitz held teaching positions at the Trier University of Applied Sciences (today: Trier University of Applied Sciences ) in the field of interior design and monument preservation and at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau. He gave guest lectures at universities in Erfurt, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart and Weimar. Since his retirement in 1995, he has been working as a consulting and planning architect in Germany and abroad.
In addition, he is the author of numerous articles in books, compilations , specialist journals, periodicals , work reports, exhibition catalogs on the subjects of the objects mentioned in the catalog raisonné and the philosophy of architecture.

- New construction of the church and the parish center of St. Monika in Überherrn / Saar, 1976 to 1981; Collaboration with Thomas Kluftinger, Saarbrücken; Theo Heiermann , Sürth near Cologne; Elmar Hillebrand , Bodo Schramm, Cologne; Inge Andler-Laurenz, Völklingen; Inge Andler-Laurenz, Völklingen.
- Episcopal Cathedral and Diocesan Museum in Trier, new building including the structural remains of the Royal Prussian Prison, 1982 to 1988; Cooperation with Bodo Schramm, Cologne.
- Former imperial abbey St. Maximin in Trier, gutting, securing and renovation for conversion, 1975 to 1995; Collaboration with Thomas Stahlhub; Gottfried Böhm and Dieter Georg Baumewerd ; Ernst Steinacker , Spielberg Castle / Middle Franconia.
- Renovations and building maintenance of the Benedictine Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, 1996 to 2007; Collaboration with Hubertus Hillinger, Susanne Hoffmann-Hillinger, Stephan Peitz , Mirjam Peitz, and Monica Pauly.
- New construction of a Benedictine monastery in Tabgha on the Sea of Galilee 2007–2012 in collaboration with the architect Hubertus Hillinger, Trier
- Supervision of all church building projects in the diocese and the diocese as head of the construction, art and technical services department from 1966 to 1995.
