Michael Müller-Kaszetelan (* 1981 in Dillingen / Saar as Michael Müller ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Michael Müller grew up in Piesbach and graduated from high school in Dillingen in 2000. After completing his training as a horn player, he completed a degree in school music and German in 2006 with the state examination. At the same time, he studied opera singing at the Saar University of Music and completed the postgraduate course in concert singing before moving to the Eastman School of Music , New York . His teachers include Margreet Honig and Albert Dohmen.

While still a student he was engaged at the Saarland State Theater, went to MIT Boston as a visiting artist and made guest appearances at the Walker Art Center . Further engagements in the great roles of his subject have taken him to the Beijing Concert Hall, the Shenzhen Concert Hall, the Munich Biennale , the State Theater Oldenburg , the Theater Koblenz , the City Theater Bremerhaven , the Volkstheater Rostock , the State Theater Neustrelitz , the Castle Festival Zwingenberg , the opera in the tent Merzig and the opera house in Kiel , of which he will be a permanent member of the ensemble from the 2009/10 season.

His most important roles include Tamino ( Die Zauberflöte ), Don Ottavio ( Don Giovanni ), Camille de Rosillon ( The Merry Widow ), Erik ( The Flying Dutchman ), Loge ( Das Rheingold ), Jim Mahoney ( Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny ) , Florestan ( Fidelio ), Narraboth ( Salome ) and Fenton ( The Merry Wives of Windsor ). As an interpreter of New Music , the artist sang in opera premieres by Cristóbal Halffter ( Chess Novel ), Volker David Kirchner ( Savonarola ) and Márton Illés ( The White Princess ).

He worked with directors such as Christopher Alden, John Dew , Philipp Himmelmann , Daniel Karasek , Johann Kresnik and Christian Pöppelreiter as well as Sandra Leupold and Andrea Moses . He was particularly encouraged by the conductors Georg Fritzsch and Constantin Trinks .

In addition to his operatic work, he is also active as a concert and lied singer. At various venues he organizes song and aria evenings with romantic and modern art songs as well as arias from operas and operettas. He also interprets solo parts in sacred musical works . Since August 2013 Michael Müller has also acted as the organizer and artistic director of the master class for bel canto singing Masterclass for Voice initiated by him in Saarlouis with the singing teacher Irina Gavrilovici .

For the Schott Verlag Mainz and the Saarländischer Rundfunk he took a. a. rediscovered Jewish cantor chants and Benjamin Britten's Seven Sonettos of Michelangelo .

Scholarships and Awards

In 2007 he received scholarships from the Richard Wagner Association and the Alois Lauer Foundation, and was an Ambassadorial Scholar of Goodwill from Rotary International . The Society of Friends of the Theater in Kiel eV honored Michael Müller with the sponsorship award for young artists in the 2011/12 season.
